Planning Committees for Criminal Justice Organizations

Criminal justice organizations depend on planning committees for smooth running of their activities. The planning committees bring in different stakeholders whose contribution is important in tackling criminal activities. Some of thetypes of planning committees being used by criminal justice organizations include Local Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee, Crime Victims Compensation Board, and Criminal Justice Grants Committee.

            The criminal justice coordinating committee is made of various stakeholders, both elected and appointed. The committee is responsible for addressing issues that affect the justice system as well as the constituent agencies. A planning process that is data-guided is used for the purposes of identifying, analyzing, and managing justice system issues (Jones, 2012). The issues addressed include jail crowding, efficient processing of cases, as well as resource reductions. Criminal Justice Grants Committee is also another planning body that is composed of various stakeholders that involve local community members, federal representatives, as well as state representatives. The committee is responsible for overseeing of funds that have been received from the federal government. The stakeholders ensure that the money allocated goes to the right purposes in the criminal justice system.

            It is important for the committees to have a diverse membership as it helps in the representation of every person. The interests of a varied people are represented by the diverse people. Diversity ensures that all issues regarding criminal justice are handled effectively irrespective of the differences between people and groups.
