After reading Wells’ The Time Machine, complete the following statement:
“The Time Traveller is a _______ character because . . .”
You might want to argue he is a modest character because…, an honourable character because…, a villainous character because… After completing the statement, please explain your choice in 300 words.

Answer
The Time Traveler is a modest character because he knows and admits when he is wrong. For instance, the Time Traveler realizes his fault when he tries so hard to dig deep into the past, yet he had invested in the Time Machine to get to the future (Wells 5:14). It is only a modest person who can understand that he or she is prone to failure or mistakes. The time traveler is also modest because he can assess his insufficiencies like any other person and correct them. The Time Traveler’s modesty is evident in the way he manages to persuade his audience. He does not impose his ideas and imaginations on people, but instead, requests them to follow him keenly and understand his points (Wells 2).
The Time traveler is as well modest as he is considerate and eager to listen to others more than talking. Filby asks him many questions while reviewing his ideas but he listens attentively and explains himself well (Wells 3). He strives to clear Filby’s doubts by making him understand the four extensions that a real body must have. The Time traveler treated everyone equally and did not like keeping workers waiting. He valued people’s time and always tried not to offend anyone. For example, The Time Traveler is depicted as one who hated it when servants are made to wait for a hot dinner plate (Wells, 21). The Time traveler does not overestimate his ability to influence situations or others. He never hesitates from doing anything possible to explain his points (Wells, 26). This is evident when he attempted to explain to people concerning the Time Machine’s principles (Wells 27). Additionally, the Time traveler convinced his followers to follow him and showed them the machine, making them believe in his claims (Wells 143).
Conclusion
The Time traveler is indeed a modest man. Modest people enjoy quora while immodest people shy away from them. It is evident throughout the book that the Time Traveler always went to places where he could share and gain knowledge, connect with people, ask questions and contribute to answers and insights.

I like how this student presents his thoughts. The arguments are highlighted in logical and flowing manner, making it easier for a reader to understand. I also agree with the post that the Time Traveler was a reckless man who was never vigilant in his actions. The Time Traveler failed to think before acting in most instances, making him reckless. The post portrays the Time Traveler’s character in an interesting way, in that he was reckless, clever and at the same time, an innovative scientist. It is generally a good essay with numerous evidence and information gathered from the book. I would read this essay severally and still enjoy how this writer explains the Time Traveler’s recklessness. The Time Traveler goes to an extent of putting another person’s life in danger because of his curiosity. It is with no doubt as the writer puts it that the Time Traveler was reckless.
Student Two: The Time Travelers Character
The student indeed read and understood the Time Traveler’s character. The post explains the Time Traveler’s character in interesting ways. This writer argues that the Time Traveler was witty, self-sufficient, uncoordinated and amusing in the way he narrates his claims. I agree with the writer since the Time Traveler explains his scientific innovations in ways that make it hard to believe in him. He is a person who never takes anything seriously and believes that there is more to life than work. I like how the writer depicts the Time Traveler as one who pays attention to detail. This is true and evident in instances whereby he strives to explain himself to the audience. The Time Traveler prefers being understood to imposing his ideas on people. The post as well proves that the Time Traveler is a man of many capabilities and versatile in his thoughts. I enjoyed reading this post.
