The ideology related to language mainly creates various perceptions and believes related to their usage in their daily lives. The introduction if ideologies related to the different languages have influenced the decision making of the governing bodies. Social communities in Europe have previously used different languages to build state entities and nationality identities. Language formation played an integral part in the decision making previously, and this trend has been increasing considerably in the modern era (Nahrkhalaji, 2007). Europe has always been the home of different culture and ethnicities, and language has been used as the boundaries for the regions. However, social development is a collective effort that applies to everyone irrespective of their ethnicities or culture. Therefore, decision making should be implemented through the usage of the languages used frequently and vastly in those regions.

As mentioned early, it has been observed that languages have been used to segregate states previously. However, this trend has influenced the ideology of the people related to the usage of the language. People have created perceptions that their language is superior to other languages and refrain from using other languages. This creates and intercultural conflict among different groups related to the usage of the languages (Howtoadult.com, 2017). The modernization of the economies and have increased the coexistence of people with different cultures and languages. This has increased the chances of collaborations between the different groups of people. However, language has become the barrier between the coexistence of the groups. The government of the countries have to make decisions in the language which are widely used within the regions. However, the clustering groups speaking different languages have made it difficult.

The usage of different language by a different group of people often decreases intercultural communication between different ethnicities. English has been widely used in the European Union countries for a considerable period of time. However, most people in France use French instead of English while interacting with each other. They even prefer conversing with tourists in French instead of English (Munishi, 2018). According to them, their linguistic ideology their language is their pride and superior to other languages. Their emotional connect with their language is high, and they refrain from using other languages.

The ideology related to the languages signifies the different span of features which can be used in associated with the language. The ideologies related to the languages have also influenced and convinced the linguistic codes in different societies. The usage of the languages in educational institutions and public places signifies the effect of a particular language on the ideologies of the peopleFitzsimmons-Doolan. In the opinion of Fitzsimmons-Doolan et al. (2017) therefore, the government have to take legal steps and create laws for recognizing the national languages of a particular region. There are various perceptions related languages influencing the ideologies of the people. It has been observed that languages are also considered to be deciding factors regarding the people’s class. The social categories of the people are decided according to the languages spoken by the people. Languages like English have been unconventionally decided as the benchmark of social status. People speaking in that language are informally considered to be superior to others.

The development of languages also impacts the social development of people in different regions. The issues related to the development of the language have extended into the problems of cognitive. These phenomena have influences that have impacted the ideologies of people from a younger age. Developing a relationship is another phenomenon which has is related to linguistic ideologies. People are comfortable interacting with others who speak the same language. As stated by Rosa and Burdick (2017), people prefer to develop a relationship with an individual speaking language rather than people of different ethnicities. The social development of the people includes various aggression issues related to linguistic ideologies. People consider their languages superior to other languages and become aggressive if opposed by people from other ethnicities. The increasing aggression among people has increased the problems related to the coexistence of different ethnicities in a particular region.

Research on linguistic ideology can be done through different research patterns. One of the research patterns indicates that ideologies related to the languages are believed which are shared by people of a particular group. The effectivity of the language is decided through the impact of grammar and vocabulary present. The research pattern mainly consists of revitalization of the languages and the impact of nationalism in these languages. As stated by Laihonen and Szabó (2017), other research patterns signify that ideologies related to the languages are mainly influenced by implicit reaction and words used by the speaker to narrate an instance or events. The first pattern is related to the believes which are of macro-level and are concerned with the quality of the language. The second pattern is related to the effectiveness of the languages narrating a particular event properly.

The government of the countries mainly regulates the policies and social development within the countries. The ideologies related to the policies should be transmitted to the people, along with the values and insights. One of the main objectives related to these policies is to spread these policies though different media and newspapers. Changes in the countries’ operations can be experienced frequently, and the internal culture within the countries changes accordingly. In the opinion of Berardi-Wiltshire, (2017), the social development of the country changes along with policies frequently. The practice related to the language uses is affected according to the changes in the political structure. From the reaction of the people, it has been observed that there is a close relationship between the awareness of a particular language by the people and development and their own language perceptions.

Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) is one of the tools which exposed the inequality related to the usage of different language and discrimination. The language used by the people is mainly to convey their perspectives and opinions aligned with the historical, political and social conditions of the surroundings. These instances can be misinterpreted due to the usage of the languages and different ideologies related to them. According to Kroskrity (2010), the CDA tool prevents misinterpretation due to language usage and brings out the real meaning of the words.

Political ideologies are the ethical values and ideas which include the solution related to the political and social problems prevailing in the society. The solution related to problems is mainly politically influenced and normative. However, the language used for these ideologies should be familiar to the people and perceptive in nature. It has been observed that when the government of a country formulates decision in less favourable language, the emotional outcomes of the people decrease considerably. However, it has also been observed that people are often willing to take the risk and be less connected emotionally when they are thinking in foreign or other languages. It has also been observed that speaking of the native languages help people to connect to their own cultural and ethical context rather than the usage of other languages. In the opinion of BARSTAD et al. (2016), the usage of other languages rather than the native language creates psychological distances between the people and their emotions.

The emotion of the people plays an integral role in the language ideology of the people. Individuals from their childhood are habituated to their native language and have formed an emotional connect. While using the native language, people’s emotional outcome is high compared to other languages, which is integral to social development. The increase in international business has increased the usage of different languages, and a considerable amount of the workforce have been using foreign languages instead of the local ones. The policymaking for the government becomes difficult in these circumstances.

The language barriers in one of the main attributes influencing policymaking and the social development within a region. The language barriers also include the dialect differences between two or more people. It may happen that two people may speak in the same language. However, due to the difference in the dialect, the language becomes incomprehensible. The ideology formulated due to the dialect becomes a false one due to the barriers. The language ideologies are not only related to the language; it also includes various cultural and social perspectives of the people and their values. As said by Bouzon et al. (2018), these ideologies have an impact on the operations of a country and should be emphasized before decision making. For decision-making policies of the government, two ideologies related to the language can be considered optimum. One of the approaches is believing in the standardization of the language, and another is monolingualism of the language. These approaches may be different from each other. However, they coexist in the modernization of the social developments of the European countries.

The standardization of English in European countries has been observed frequently. Due to the increasing usage of English, most European Union citizens have accepted the usage of the language in their operations apart from a few. However, the advent of Brexit has decreased the influence of English, due to which the policymaking in European regions has been affected.

In countries like France and England, the standardization of the languages is followed along with a monolinguistic approach. The increase of the nation-states within England and France has instigated the national language’s promotion over regional dialects. The colonialism policy is taken by the British previously have established their language in various regions and have increased monolingualism in various regions. In the opinion of Walsh (2015), therefore, to formulate any policies and social development in any region, language policy should be followed. The language policies help the governments in deciding the language in which the policies should be formulated and also the language choices in the community. These policies are integral for the government to devise the policies relevant to the social development of the people. However, these policies also have repercussions related to society which cannot be ignored. The consequences include changing of nationality, promoting human rights related to the language and supporting the revitalization of the languages. However, the relation between language ideologies and language policies are coexisting in nature and are inseparable in nature.

The effect of the language ideology on the policymaking can be signified with the case of Albania. The language usage and language policy related to standardization of the operations in Albania was formulated entirely on the decision over different dialects. The standardization of the national language in Albania is mainly due to implementing universal social and economic distinction among the people. In the words of Munishi (2018), another motive related to standardization is to build a centralized socialist state with uniformity. The country, however, has changed from a socialist state to a communist system after a few years of standardization. The changes in the ideology have changed the policies related to the language within the country. A definite path was formulated for the elite class of people to choose their standard base language. The language ideology had supported the language policy adopted by the government. That is how the language ideology of the country have been formulated, and the power of the government have been established accordingly. The uniformity of the national language has been observed in the operations of the country. The people from other countries are forced to learn the official language of the country in order to understand the policies of decision making.

Globalization has increased the transaction between the different countries through international trade. It has provided the basis of circulation of ideas, multilingual interactions and connection between countries(Farrand Song,2011). Along with globalization, the widespread of English can also be observed for a considerable period of time. The increase in the usage of English has increased the usage of the language in various regions. The government of various countries have also started to use it as their official language. Migration within different countries has also increased the scope of spreading English. The expansion of English has been favourable for various countries in their decision making. The language ideologies are mainly the perception of the language and how the language has been attracting people. English has been one of the languages which are easy to learn and can be used for multiple purposes. Therefore, understanding of English is easier than any other language in other countries.

The linguistic barriers are one of the hurdles which the government of the country have to deal with while deciding the policies of the country. The change in dialect from region to region often decrease the effectivity of communication within people(Lep.gov, 2007). Therefore, the government of the countries should mitigate these barriers in order to increase the social development within the countries. Moreover, it has been observed that migration in the European countries has increased considerably over a period of time. The diversity-related to the culture and language have increased considerably due to which communication within the country has been difficult. The increasing of people with different culture and ethnicities have hampered the unity of the people. People tend to avoid other citizens with different culture and background. The communal harmony in Europe has been jeopardized to a huge extent. The social development in this situation has become difficult for the government amidst the huge diversification.

To devise policies related to the social development of the people, the government should use the language ideology, which is understandable for the people of the particular region. The increasing number of ethnicities have increased the number of languages used in a particular region. The social development devised by the company is applicable for all the people residing in that region and should be devised in a language that all can understand. The understanding of the policies is integral for the residents to comprehend the policies of the government. The government should also use various ways to implement an understanding of at least one language suited to for social development.

Snyder’s theory of decision making can also be introduced in the social development of the countries. Snyder theory signifies that we live in a society that is dynamic in nature. This indicates that the number of people from different ethnicities lives in within a country. In a dynamic society, the ideologies’ conceptualization changes frequently, and the government has to implement policies for social development through the everchanging ideologies. The increasing number of immigrants in the European countries signifies that the changing ideologies frequently. The social development policies should be uniform for all the people within a particular region. However, the diversification in the culture has increased the problems of the government. The ideologies are directly related to the believes which provide social representations of various different types of social groups. Therefore, for sustainable social development of a particular region, the government have to decide for the welfare of all group of people.

The government has to decide how the policies related to social development can be implemented within a diverse country. For proper implementation of the social developments, a language has to selected, which can be understood by the majority of the people of the country. The policies should be clearly written in simple language, which will be comprehensive in nature. Provisions should be provided for the people of different ethnicities, and special emphasis should be given to them. As stated by Liddicoat (2019), the people who have less knowledge related to the official language of the country should be provided optimally. The residents migrating from other countries should be provided with knowledge related to the official language of the country. Moreover, the government of the country should have proper knowledge related to the number of languages used within the country. The policies should be formulated in their official language and should be translated into the number of languages used within the country.

The social development of a country is related to improvement and well being the people so that they can increase their efficiency and be satisfied. The success of the social development is directly related to the welfare of each and every citizen. According to Geipelet al. (2018), the development is directly related to proper investing in the operations of the people. Therefore, the decisions related to the policies should be formulated in a language that can be understood by the people and act according to it. The decisions should be taken in certain manners so that the linguistic ideologies of the people should not create conflict relate to the development.

Conclusion

The influence related to the ideology associated with languages is present in every social group. The ideological influences are mainly formed through certain influence related to the mental framework on which people base their believes and operations. Different forces of ideology influence the language used in the interaction between the people. The language provides the basis of communication between different people and also serve the purpose of being one of the practical tools of interaction. The wide usage of language for interaction makes the usage of language suitable for influencing the ideology of the people of a particular region. The language ideology affects the policymaking of the countries immensely due to their capability of changing ideologies. The social development of the countries is also got jeopardized due to changes in ideology among different people. The changes in ideology create internal clashes between the people of different groups, which creates difficulty in policymaking. Therefore, in order to make policies related to the social development of any region, the government should formulate the policies in the standardized language, which is widely accepted by the people in that particular region.
